Valle de Guadalupe. Mexico’s Wine Country in Ensenada, Baja California

The Valley of Guadalupe (15 minutes outside of Ensenada) produces 90% of all the wines in Mexico. This area of Mexico has been called "the new Napa Valley" because of its untapped potential as a great wine region. The Guadalupe Valley is filled with lush vineyards of every size and has more than a dozen boutique vineyards and a number of industrial size vineyards. The wine makers of the Ensenada region produce a complete range of types and styles of wines. Mexican wines from this area have obtained international recognition, and are being exported to Europe, the United States and Canada in ever increasing quantities. In addition to quality wine products, these boutique vineyards offer a host of other wonderful local agricultural products like herbs, cheese, honey, incense, olives, olive oil, baked goods, preserves and grapes.

Fiesta de la Vendimia. Annual Grape Harvest

In August of every year is the Fiesta de la Vendimia (Grape Harvest Fesitival) held by the Association of Winemakers of Baja California. The festival lasts for 10 days and offers a wide variety of attractions including; wine tasting and contests, winery tours, fishing tournaments, cook-offs, gourmet food and concerts, all sponsored, organized or subsidized by area wineries. Be sure to make your Hotel Reservations and Wine Country Tour arrangements well in advance, due to its overwhelming popularity.
